For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life”. John 3:16. “He was counted among those who we’re sinners. He bore the sins of many and interceded for sinners. (A prophesy from the Old Testament) Isaiah 53:12

Delesprie combines Biblical prophecy with its fulfillment that took place the day Jesus Christ was crucified and the relevance for life today. C.S Lewis said, “Jesus was the unblemished sacrifice, and without His shed blood, there would be the missing reconciliation between mankind and Holy God”. Because God is so Holy we needed a mediator.

This statue is representing each dimension of the Trinity present at a crucial moment in time. Jesus is on the cross as He is being raised to a vertical position. Hands of an unseen person that are ours grasp the ropes that pull the cross upright. Jesus’ eyes are fixed toward Heaven, asking His Heavenly Father to forgive His murderers.

On the sides of the cross are sins Jesus died to forgive. Among the listed words are: deception, adultery, lust, greed, envy, pride, theft, murder, sexual immorality, idolatry, impurity, witchcraft, hatred, selfish ambition, drunkenness, fits of rage, and homosexuality. Symbolizing the crimes against humanity and self are precisely why God the Father sent His Son to be crucified. Jesus was the perfect, unblemished sacrifice.

Satan is depicted in the form of a serpent wound around the base. The nails in Jesus’ hands and feet are prophesied of in Psalm 22:16, “They have pierced my hands and feet,” The piercing of Jesus’ side was prophesied hundreds of years before His death in Zechariah 12:10, “They will look on me whom they have pierced and mourn for him as for an only son”.
